Outreach
Our outreach activities strengthen the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) by creating awareness in the most vulnerable communities about TB as well as promoting the benefits of accessing government facilities. The communities are benefitted by these activities as they get access to life-saving treatment, which they might have otherwise missed due to lack of awareness and fear of stigma.
major activities under outreach include
- Community mobilization and promotion of increased participation among community members to generate demand for TB prevention, diagnosis, treatment adherence and care services.
- Generation of awareness through kalajathas, IEC shows, interpersonal communications and other events
- Identification of people with possible TB symptoms through meetings with local key influencers such as traditional healers, pharmacists, people living with HIV, ex-patients and community-structures such as women’s self-help groups, grassroots organizations etc.
- Referral of people with possible TB symptoms to local health centres/ Designated Microscopy Centers (DMCs) for testing, diagnosis and treatment.
